HYDERABAD: Former Indian Police Service officer Prabhakar Rao surrendered before Jubilee Hills police on Supreme Court directions in the phone-tapping case.
Supreme Court order prompts surrender
Officials of the Special Investigation Team said Rao presented himself before them as he is an accused in the phone-tapping case. The Supreme Court had directed him to surrender before investigators.
Custodial inquiry for one week
Investigators plan to conduct custodial inquiry for a week. SIT officials said the inquiry will proceed strictly in line with the court’s instructions.
Court bars physical torture
The Supreme Court told investigators not to subject Rao to any physical torture and allowed him to receive food from home. SIT officials will question him in the phone-tapping case from Friday in compliance with the court order.
