Police busted ganja milkshake powder racket in Hyderabad

Milkshake (ganja)

HYDERABAD: Following recent events, police authorities uncovered a new way people are consuming cannabis: ganja milkshakes. Police made this discovery after catching a man and his two sons selling ganja chocolates and ganja powder at their store in Jagathgirigutta in Hyderabad.

The main culprit, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, is influenced by his relative in West Bengal, who sold ganja-infused chocolates. Manoj and his sons, Murari Kumar Agarwal and Nitish Kumar Agarwal, were accused of selling cannabis-infused chocolates at their shop in Hyderabad. Authorities seized 4-kg of ganja powder and 160 packets of ganja-chocolates during a raid on Jayasri Traders on April 15.

The trio’s involvement was solely driven by profit, as the substances they sold offered minimal psychoactive effects. Contrary to popular belief, ganja milkshake powder, known as ‘choora,’ lacks the primary psychoactive constituent of ganja, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Most of the THC is concentrated at the top of the cannabis plant. While the powder is derived from the lower parts, which lacks potency and offers minimal psychoactive effects.

The accused collaborated with a manufacturer in Indore to use low-THC choora in making milkshake powder. Law enforcement, with assistance from the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TS-NAB), is actively investigating the matter.
