Police file case against KTR for unauthorised drone flight over Medigadda Barrage

Hyderabad: A case was registered against BRS working president KTR and MLAs Balka Suman and Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy on August 6, for flying a drone over the Medigadda barrage without permission. The FIR, registered under section BNS 223(b), was filed at the Mahadevpur Police Station in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district.
The complaint was lodged by Vali Shaik, Assistant Executive Engineer (Irrigation) at Medigadda, following the viral spread of a video showing the unauthorised drone flight. The incident occurred on July 26, during KTR’s visit to the Medigadda barrage. The video, which was posted on social media, drew the attention of irrigation officials who subsequently reported the matter to the police.
After the BRS party’s official handle posted the video on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) on July 27, BRS party members alleged, “BRS blow! Congress was surprised! The Congress government, which had been accused of not operating the Kaleshwaram pumps due to political reasons, responded to KTR’s recent warnings. Fearing backlash from Telangana farmers due to BRS’s efforts, Revanth Sarkar turned on the motors and released water today.”

In response, the Telangana Congress Party claimed on July 28, “This is not Medigadda, Annaram, or Sundilla, all of which were developed during KCR’s regime. The footage actually shows the Sripada Ellampalli project, built during the Congress regime. BRS social media accounts falsely claimed that the video depicted Medigadda. This is a clear attempt to mislead the public, reminiscent of propaganda tactics.”
The damage to the Medigadda barrage under the previous BRS regime was a significant issue during last year’s Legislative Assembly elections.
