Hyderabad: In a significant crackdown on illegal street racing, Raidurgam Police under the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate registered nine cases involving 89 bikes and two cars on June 21. The incident occurred near T-Hub, Knowledge City, Gachibowli, where young individuals were reportedly engaging in reckless bike racing, creating a public nuisance and endangering lives.

Swift Police Action Against Illegal Bike Racing Leads to Multiple Arrests and Seizures in Cyberabad

The police responded swiftly to credible information received on June 1st, 2024, around 9:00 PM, rushing to the scene by 10:00 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple individuals performing dangerous bike stunts and racing on public roads, disrupting normal traffic flow and causing a disturbance to local residents.

Efforts to evade capture were thwarted by law enforcement, leading to the seizure of 50 bikes on the spot. Subsequently, a case was filed against all 50 bikers under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act.

All the accused bikers were presented before a second-class executive magistrate and were bound over with a surety of ₹1 lakh each. They were warned that repeat offenses would incur a hefty fine of ₹1 lakh.

The seized vehicles, comprising 89 bikes and 2 cars, will be handed over to the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) for further action under the Motor Vehicles Act.

In response to these incidents, police authorities have urged parents to monitor and counsel their children against such dangerous activities, emphasizing the potential for serious accidents and legal consequences. They reiterated that street racing of any form is strictly prohibited, and offenders will face legal repercussions, including imprisonment.
