Mirchowk police bust illegal firecracker storage worth Rs. 1.5 lakh, arrest one

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, along with Mirchowk Police, busted an illegal firecracker storage facility located at Alija Kotla, in Mirchowk. During the operation, a substantial quantity of firecrackers, including bombs, sprinklers, and various other items, was seized, and the proprietor was apprehended.

The accused has been identified as 45-year-old Shiva Kumar Goyal, a businessman residing in Alija Kotla, Mirchowk. Authorities reported that the firecrackers were stored in a hazardous manner, violating safety norms for illegal profits.

The seized items include a wide array of firecrackers with a total estimated value of Rs. 1,50,000. The inventory features: Color Pinjore – 14 boxes; 30 Shots – 4; 7 Shots – 4; Punch Cola – 7; Redfort 1000 Wala – 10, Black Ghost – 5; 25 Cracking Shots – 11; Zen 60 – 5; Usui 1000 Wala – 15; 12 Shots – 4; Narmada – 3; 240 Shots Rainbow Dance – 1; Firing Shot – 1; Nazz Steller – 2; Festival Fun – 1; 5000 Shots Redfort – 4; 2000 Wala Redfort – 3; 15 Shots – 1; 120 Shots Let’s Celebrate – 1; Dark – 4; Pickock Bijli – 48; Happy – 2; Flower Pots Super Deluxe – 41; Flower Pots Deluxe – 28; DTH 30 Shots – 2; Tri Colour – 4; Jai Ho – 5; Colour Rinjor – 6; 100 Wala King – 45; Navi Pyar – 3; Musical Crackers – 17; 28 Wala – 20; 2 Inch Comet – 6; Indrajal – 2.

According to the police investigation, Shiva Kumar Goyal runs a water plant business and a seasonal operation in the area. With the upcoming Dussera and Diwali festivals, there is a heightened demand for firecrackers. However, Shiva Kumar stored a significant quantity of explosive firecrackers without the necessary licenses and precautionary measures in a residential area, posing a serious risk to the lives and property of local residents.

Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Commissioner’s Task Force, along with Mirchowk Police, apprehended Shiva Kumar and confiscated the firecrackers. The accused and the seized materials were subsequently handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mirchowk Police Station for further action.

A case has been registered under Cr. No. 217/2024, U/s 287, 288 BNS, and Sec 9 (B) (1) (b) of the Explosive Act of 1884.

This operation was led by Inspector S. Raghavendra, alongside Sub-Inspectors G. Anjaneyulu, K. Narsimulu, N. Naveen, and the staff of the South Zone Task Force, Hyderabad, in coordination with Mirchowk Police.
