POCSO special court convicts a father who sexually assaulted his minor daughter
Hyderabad: A 41-year-old father, who abused his minor daughter, was convicted by a Special court dealing with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) cases on Friday. The accused was sentenced to undergo life imprisonment .
According to the police, the accused 41-year-old eke out a living by working as a cook. He is survived by a wife and eight children. The accused worked as a cook in a hotel and his wife work as a servant .On 15 May 2022 after having dinner the victim’s parents slept in a room and victim girl along with her brothers slept in another room in the midnight while victim girl was in deep sleep, her father came to her forcefully violated her. As the victim girl in deep sleep, she could not resist her father’s acts.
Three days later on 18 June 2022 at about 02:30 hours in the late night, again her father came to her and had sexual intercourse with her. Further the accused threatened his daughter not to disclose his immoral acts to anyone.
However the victim revealed to her mother about the sexual abuse by her father. “Following which the victim’s mother took her to Hussainialam police station of Hyderabad commissionerate and lodged a formal complaint with the police. The police booked a case and shifted her to Bharosa center for statement recording under 161 Cr.PC. Medical evidence was also collected in the Bharosa Center”, said Hyderabad police.The police booked a case under section 376 (Punishment for rape), 506(Criminal intimidation) IPC andrelevant section of POCSO Act.
After thorough enquiry, a charge sheet was filed. The Bharosa Centre has facilitated the victim and her family in counseling, medical support, legal support, financial support.
After the trial, T Anitha , Special Sessions Judge for POCSO, HACA Bhavan, Nampally, Hyderabad found the accused guilty of the crime. Further sentenced the accused to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life which shall mean imprisonment for the remainder of natural life of that person with fine of Rs 5000.
