TGSRTC MD Sajjanar’s video on digital arrest features in Mann Ki Baat
Hyderabad: In the 115th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the issue of ‘digital arrest’ and requested the people to remain vigilant and not fall prey to cybercrimes.
PM Modi asserted that “there is no system like digital arrest in the law. This is just fraud, deceit, lie, a gang of criminals.” He played a video posted by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Managing Director VC Sajjanar last month to help people understand the gravity of the crime. He also explained how the person in the video avoided falling into the trap despite the pseudo-police officers putting pressure on him to share his personal information.
The Prime Minister further shared that the enforcement agencies have been doing their job. They have blocked thousands of such fraudulent video-calling IDs and launched a crackdown on lakhs of SIM cards, mobile phones, and bank accounts associated with the fraudsters.
Amid increasing cases of ‘digital arrest’ in India, Sajjanar recently shared a video of cybercriminals impersonating the competent authorities in state police, NCB, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and other law enforcement agencies.
After his video was featured in the latest ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode, Sajjanar took to X to express his gratitude to the Prime Minister for addressing this critical issue.
“The same issue & Video was highlighted on my X handle by sharing ‘smart’ video call conversation between the same person Santosh Patil of Vijayapur of Karnataka, along with a message to create awareness on digital arrests and cybercrime issues,” Sajjanar tweeted.
