Photographer arrested for morphed video of Hyderabad Mayor, Minister

Hyderabad: A cyber criminal who morphed the video of Hyderabad city Mayor Vijay Laxmi and Hyderabad incharge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to make it derogatory was arrested by the Hyderabad cyber crime police.
The arrested accused was identified as Chamakuri Laxman, a 29-year-old photographer by profession.
Hyderabad cyber crime police revealed that the accused created a X (Twitter) handle with the name @nijamenayya1. Laxman reportedly obtained a video of the Mayor Vijay Laxmi and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar while they were waiting for darshan at the Balkampet Yellamma Temple during Bonalu Festival.
“The accused has not only morphed the image of the Mayor and Minister sitting at the premises of the temple, but also added a background dialog and song extracted from a Telugu movie giving inappropriate meaning” said Hyderabad police.
Subsequently, he posted the video clip on the ‘X‘ handle and other social media handles like instagram and facebook. By doing these acts, he not only insulted, tarnished the image of the first lady of the city and the Minister but also outraged the modesty of the elected representatives. The video reportedly caused widespread circulation and tarnished the image of the public figures.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, a case was registered and investigated. Notices were served to the nodal authorities of the social media handles, court orders were obtained based on their request for additional information.
“Finally based on the details provided by the nodal officers, the investigation team analysed the information and finally tracked the accused and arrested him. His mobile phone and other incriminating material was seized and will be sent to the forensic lab for examination and report,” said Hyedrabd cyber crime police.
The arrested accused is being produced before the local court for judicial remand. He will be taken into custody for eliciting further information like previous history, involvement of other accused and the motive behind the offense
