Petition filed against Pawan Kalyan in Hyderabad City Civil Court

Hyderabad: A petition has been filed against Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in the Hyderabad City Civil Court seeking a direction to restrain him from making baseless comments on the Tirupati Laddu issue.
The petitioner, Advocate Immaneni Rama Rao, has appealed to the court to issue a restraining order as Pawan Kalyan’s comments have hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. The Deputy Chief Minister of a neighbouring state had claimed that ghee used in the preparation of the Tirupati laddus was derived from animal fats, and he did not support his comment with scientific evidence, he added.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court formed an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations that the Laddu prasadam served at Tirumala temple contained animal fat. The SIT, led by a CBI director, comprises two CBI officers, two officers from the Andhra Pradesh police, and one FSSAI officer.
