Telangana artists perform Perini at Bharat Parv 2026
Telangana: Telangana artists captivated audiences with a Perini Shivatandavam performance near the Red Fort on Friday afternoon, as part of Bharat Parv 2026.
The performance was held at Gyan Path lawns, opposite the Red Fort. Perini, traditionally performed in reverence to Shiva before warriors went to battle, is also known as the “dance of warriors”. The classical dance form originated in Telangana during the Kakatiya dynasty nearly 800 years ago.
Cultural programmes are organised every year at Gyan Path as part of Republic Day celebrations. The Perini presentation was organised under the leadership of the Telangana Department of Culture.
Telangana Bhavan resident commissioner Shashank Goel watched the performance and later congratulated the artistes.
