Narsampet in Tears as It Bids Farewell to Beloved Leader Peddi Sudarsan Reddy
HYDERABAD: Former Narsampet MLA and senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Peddi Sudarsan Reddy died in Hyderabad at 12:50 am on Friday. He was 52.
Veteran Telangana movement leader remembered for his sacrifices
An ardent follower of BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Sudarsan Reddy emerged as one of the strongest voices of the Telangana statehood movement. During the agitation, police used water cannons to disperse protesters, causing him to lose vision in one eye. Nevertheless, he continued to actively participate in the movement and remained committed to the Telangana cause.
He suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence on July 26 and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Hanumakonda. Doctors performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) more than nine times before reviving him. Later, doctors shifted him to a hospital in Hyderabad, where he remained on ventilator support. However, he succumbed on Friday despite intensive medical treatment.
Leader known for his simple life and clean public image
Sudarsan Reddy earned widespread respect among party workers and political colleagues for his honesty, humility and straightforward nature. Moreover, he was a teetotaller who lived in a modest two-bedroom house and owned only two acres of ancestral land.
His supporters frequently pointed to his simple lifestyle and unblemished public image as hallmarks of his political career. Following his death, political leaders, party workers and supporters across Telangana paid tribute to his contributions to the statehood movement and his lifelong commitment to public service.
