Driver caught with cash during trap
According to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, the trap was laid around 16.22 IST after the complainant approached officials. ACB said Mahender allegedly sought the bribe to process the registration of ancestral agricultural land in favour of the complainant’s husband.
Officials stated that the amount of ₹15,000 was accepted on behalf of the officer by his private car driver, Thuppari Goutham, at the tahsildar office in Peddavangara. The tainted money was recovered from the possession of Goutham.
ACB: Officer acted dishonestly
Investigators said Mahender “performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage”. Goutham “assisted and abetted” the act, ACB added.
