HYDERABAD: Police have denied permission for the public meeting proposed by Pawan Kalyan in Hyderabad on Tuesday, citing law and order concerns.

Opposition to meeting triggers security concerns

The meeting, titled Telangana Navanirmana Sankalpa Sabha, was scheduled to be held at Sandhya Convention Centre in Gachibowli. Pawan Kalyan was expected to attend the event.

Police said permission could not be granted in view of potential law and order issues.

Congress leaders, groups object to event

Several Telangana Congress leaders and other groups had objected to the proposed meeting. They questioned how Pawan Kalyan could hold a public event in Hyderabad after allegedly making remarks that they said insulted Telangana.

Some organisations also announced plans to lay siege to the venue.

Jana Sena plans legal challenge

Against this backdrop, Cyberabad Police denied permission for the meeting.

Telangana Jana Sena leaders said all arrangements for the event had already been completed. They are expected to approach the court seeking permission to conduct the meeting.
