HYDERABAD: Residents facing displacement due to the proposed road-widening project have received assurances from Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy that the government will protect their interests. He pledged to consider alternatives, including a flyover, to help residents avoid losing their homes.

The assurance followed a Wednesday meeting where a delegation from the Ameenpur Peoples Association submitted a memorandum to the MLA, requesting alternative routes to avoid demolishing houses.

Meanwhile, MLA Mahipal Reddy responded positively, stating the government would protect poor and middle-class families. He acknowledged residents’ concerns and emphasized public welfare as his main priority. “To prevent damage to homes and resolve traffic congestion, we will examine the feasibility of building a flyover as an alternative,” the MLA announced.

The MLA also announced a high-level joint meeting with Irrigation and Municipal officials within a week to discuss the issue and seek a solution. Further, Mahipal Reddy reassured residents: “There is no need to panic. I will do my utmost to ensure the poor receive justice, with public welfare as my main goal.”

Tirumal Reddy, President of the Ameenpur Peoples Association, thanked Mahipal Reddy for his proactive and empathetic response. Other association representatives at the meeting included Raghuvamshi, Nagireddy, Venkateswara Rao, Ramu, Bharadwaj, Madan Mohan Reddy, and others.
