Industrial waste pollutes Isnapur lake in Patancheru

PATANCHERU : Industries in Pashamylaram industrial area are dumping chemical waste into open lands, residents alleged. They said the discharge is released secretly when rains begin, allowing it to flow with floodwater into nearby colonies. Locals complained of foul odour and coloured water entering their areas.
Residents said chemical-laced rainwater has contaminated Isnapur lake. “The water has turned toxic, and aquatic life is dying,” they said. Farmers in low-lying areas reported that grazing lands are drying up due to polluted inflows. With natural drains blocked during national highway construction, locals said floodwater now stagnates on the road, carrying waste and foul smell.
Health concerns have also risen. Locals said people working in industries and residents are falling sick with skin diseases, respiratory problems and hypertension. Children, pregnant women and new mothers are particularly affected.
Despite repeated complaints, residents said industrial managements and officials remain indifferent. They urged the Pollution Control Board to act against industries that are indiscriminately dumping chemical waste.
