Pantangi toll plaza ends 18-hour ganja chase

HYDERABAD: Two alleged interstate ganja suppliers were arrested after Telangana police teams chased their car for more than 18 hours from Odisha to the Pantangi toll plaza in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
The police recovered 20.5kg of ganja, valued at ₹10.25 lakh, and seized the car, officials said.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Khammam Regional Narcotics Control Cell, State Task Force, Eagle Force and Choutuppal police.
Police track car from Odisha to Telangana
The Eagle Force teams received information on the night of August 26 that ganja was being transported and began monitoring the vehicle.
The car remained at Sabbavaram in Visakhapatnam district for more than seven hours before leaving for Hyderabad at 7.30am on August 27.
After crossing Rajahmundry and entering the Khammam-Suryapet route, police teams followed the vehicle. Since the car was travelling at high speed, police feared that stopping it on the highway could cause an accident.
The teams alerted the State Task Force and coordinated with Choutuppal police before drawing up a plan to intercept the vehicle at the Pantangi toll plaza.
Police trace alleged interstate supply network
The arrested men, Tilochan Samantara, 30, and Sagar Bal, 23, are from Kendrapara district in Odisha.
During questioning, police found that the two had allegedly bought around 20kg of ganja from Amit Sahani, a resident of Odisha, for ₹25,000.
Police also found that they were transporting the ganja to Hyderabad at the direction of Bikash Barik, a resident of Hyderabad.
According to police, Tilochan had supplied ganja to Bikash in the past as well.
Police found that the accused had previous cases against them and are investigating the wider interstate network to identify others involved.
