Panjagutta police quizzes actress Vishnu Priya in online betting apps case

Hyderabad: Amid Telangana police’s investigation into the online betting app case, actress and social media influencer Vishnu Priya appeared for questioning at Panjagutta police station on Thursday.
The actress was seen entering the premises of the police station and she was accompanied by her lawyer. According to reports, the actress is being quizzed about various aspects related to the case.
Earlier, the police had registered cases against 11 celebrities, social media influencers and YouTubers for allegedly promoting betting apps on social media.
Some of the social media influencers have requested the police to give them time to appear for questioning while others have issued a statement on their social media accounts saying that, going forward, they will not promote betting apps.

The crackdown comes following a complaint from one Vinay Vangala, who had stated that the mobile apps and websites promoting gambling activities violate the Public Gambling Act of 1867
Following a complaint from one Vinay Vangala, the police registered a case against Imran Khan Jetx, Vishnu Priya, Harsha Sai, Shyamala, Tasty Teja, Rithu Chowdhary, Bandaru Sheshayani Supritha, Kiran Goud, Ajay, Sunny Target and Sudheer on March 17, 2025.
The police registered a case against these social media influencers under sections 318 (4) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 3, 3 (A) and 4 of the Telangana Gaming Act and 66D of the Information Technology Act 2008.
Earlier, Cyberabad police booked YouTuber Harsha Sai Bandaram for promoting betting apps. The YouTuber was booked following a complaint from an individual who reportedly lost over Rs 13 lakh in betting after watching his videos.
A case of cheating has been registered against Harsha Sai under section 318 (4) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66-D of the Information Technology Act.
