How Pahadishareef police cracked the Thukkuguda murder-cum-rape case in 30 hours
HYDERABAD: Pahadishareef police arrested a 34-year-old bike mechanic in connection with the murder and alleged rape of a 21-year-old woman at Thukkuguda in Ranga Reddy district, police said.
The accused, identified as MD Sanaullah, was apprehended on the evening of August 30, within 30 hours of the complaint being lodged, according to police.
The case was registered at Pahadishareef police station under Sections 103(1), 64(1) and 332(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 3(ii)(V) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
According to the complaint, the deceased had come to Hyderabad with her friend Kaka Sarika and was working as a nurse at Prime Care Hospital, Thukkuguda. She was staying in the hospital’s residential rooms.
On August 29, at about 14.30 IST, Sarika informed the woman’s aunt that she had not come out of her room since morning and was not responding to repeated knocks.
The two entered the room through a window and found the woman lying dead with bleeding injuries on her face. Her aunt then reached the spot and lodged a complaint, suspecting that an unidentified person had assaulted and killed her.
Police said Sanaullah was working and staying at a bike mechanic shop near Prime Care Hospital. He had come to Hyderabad in 2023 and had learnt bike-mechanic work at a shop in Uppal.
About two months before the incident, he moved to Thukkuguda and started working at another shop run by the same person, police said.
According to the police, Sanaullah had noticed the woman through the rear-side window of the mechanic shop and had been observing her movements. Police said he allegedly entered her room through a window at about 00.30 IST on August 29.
Police alleged that the woman resisted him and that a struggle followed. The accused allegedly assaulted and strangulated her before sexually assaulting her.
Police said he then left the room after closing the window.
The investigation is continuing, with police collecting and analysing scientific, technical and other corroborative evidence.
Police seized a Samsung mobile phone and clothes belonging to the accused.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Hyderabad police commissioner V C Sajjanar and the direction of Shamshabad deputy commissioner of police B Rajesh and RGIA assistant commissioner of police V Srikanth Goud.
Pahadishareef inspector B Lakshmi Narayana Reddy and his team, along with the Shamshabad Zonal Task Force, were involved in the investigation and arrest.
