Auto driver gets 20 years’ jail for aggravated sexual assault on minor in Ranga Reddy

Hyderabad sessions court that sentenced a security guard in Pot Market POCSO case

HYDERABAD: A Fast Track Special Court for expeditious trial of rape and POCSO cases in Ranga Reddy district sentenced a 26-year-old auto driver to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a case of aggravated penetrative sexual assault on a minor girl.

The court delivered the judgment on March 16, 2026, in Sessions Case No.209/2024 arising out of Crime No.16/2024 registered at Pahadishareef police station.

The convicted person, Methre Ajay, a resident of Jalpally village in Balapur mandal of Ranga Reddy district, was found guilty under Sections 376(2)(f)(n), 448, 427 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 5(l)(m)(n) read with Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Court orders imprisonment and financial penalty

The court sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹42,000. It also directed payment of ₹5,00,000 as victim compensation.

According to police, the case involved aggravated penetrative sexual assault committed by the accused on a minor girl who was under his care, attracting stringent provisions of the POCSO Act.

Investigation and prosecution

The investigation was conducted by B. Srinivas, then Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Maheshwaram, now Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nagarkurnool, and P. Laxmikanth Reddy, then ACP Maheshwaram, now posted with the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Hyderabad.

Additional Public Prosecutors Shobha Rani and P. Satyanarayana represented the prosecution.

Police said coordinated efforts by the investigating officers, prosecution team, court duty officers and police staff led to the conviction.
