Pahadishareef dargah area still awaits Krishna water

PAHADISHAREEF: Despite official claims that Krishna water is being supplied to every household in Jalpally Circle, several neighbourhoods around the Pahadishareef dargah continue to remain outside the piped drinking water network, forcing residents to depend on private tankers.
Tank exists, supply missing
A 3,000-kilolitre water tank operated by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board is located near the Pahadishareef dargah. Through this tank, Krishna water is supplied to Shaheennagar, Pahadishareef, New Babanagar, Habeeb Colony and nearby localities.
However, several settlements abutting the tank do not even have a drinking water pipeline, residents said. People in these colonies are facing severe hardship and are buying water through tankers.
Residents allege neglect
Locals said they had submitted representations to senior water board officials and public representatives seeking Krishna water supply, but no action had followed. They said the presence of the tank had brought no benefit to their colonies.
“Water from the tank near our homes is supplied to other localities, but Krishna water is not provided to the settlements next to it,” said Mohammed Irfan, a local resident.
Officials cite pending approval
Yadaiah, manager of the water board’s Jalpally Circle, said proposals had been prepared as there was no drinking water pipeline in the colonies beside the tank and had been sent to higher authorities.
“We have requested additional water allocation for these localities. Once approval is received, pipelines will be laid and Krishna water supplied,” he said.
