Padma Shri for CCMB scientist, Telangana agriculturist

HYDERABAD: The Union government on Sunday announced the Padma Awards for 2026, releasing the list a day ahead of Republic Day.
Among the Telugu recipients, CCMB scientist Kumarasamy Thangaraj and Telangana-based agriculturist Rama Reddy Mamidi have been selected for the Padma Shri.
Thangaraj, a senior scientist at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), has carried out extensive research on human evolution and genetic disorders. With over three decades of work, his research has earned international recognition.
Mamidi has been honoured for his contributions to animal husbandry and the dairy sector, particularly for improving practices linked to livestock development.
