Kaushik Reddy seeks apology from IPS body over Gaush Alam row

HYDERABAD: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy has issued a legal notice to the Telangana IPS Officers Association, seeking a written public apology within three days over a press release dated January 30, 2026, which he termed “baseless and frivolous”.
Row over alleged remarks on Gaush Alam
In the notice, Kaushik Reddy said the association’s statement accused him of making “false and unsubstantiated allegations” against Gaush Alam, IPS, by naming his religion and alleging that he was attempting to convert people of other faiths.
The association had stated that while local police officers were discharging their lawful duties, the MLA made remarks without basis or provocation. It said it was “deeply disturbed” by what it described as insinuations regarding the serving officer’s religion and termed the allegation of attempted conversions as “a serious attack on the morale, independence and dignity of the civil services”.

Kaushik Reddy denied making any such remarks.
MLA releases video denying charge
He said he had “never spoken the above quoted words” and that he had “true faith in all religions”. He described the press release as an attempt to “assassinate my character and reputation which was hard-earned with years of dedication and commitment towards public service”.
He said he had released a video condemning the statement and demanded proof.
“I have also demanded you to either show the video of me allegedly saying the said words, or to publish a public apology for trying to assassinate my character,” he stated in the notice.
Legal action warning within three days
The MLA said that, as a public representative, he has “utmost faith in all officers functioning in the State” and “due respect for all religions”.
He demanded that the association either produce a video showing him making the alleged remarks or publish a written public apology in print media within three days from receipt of the notice.
Failing this, he said he would initiate “appropriate legal proceedings (both civil and criminal)” against the office-bearers of the Telangana IPS Officers Association and hold them responsible for “all costs and consequences arising therefrom”.
