Asaduddin Owaisi protests Pahalgam attack, distributes black ribbons in Hyderabad Mosque

Hyderabad: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi led a protest in Hyderabad on Friday, April 25, 2025, in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Before the Juma Namaz at Shastripuram mosque, Owaisi wore a black ribbon and distributed black ribbons to those gathered, urging them to show solidarity with the victims of the attack.
Owaisi’s call for a peaceful protest included a special prayer at Macca Masjid, where a large number of Muslims gathered wearing black ribbons. After the prayers, attendees participated in a rally, chanting slogans in support of India and condemning the attack.
The Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists, has sparked widespread outrage. Owaisi condemned the attack, which he attributed to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, and called for heightened security measures in Kashmir. “The terrorists targeted the victims based on their faith,” he said, adding that such attacks aimed to disrupt peace among communities.
In a video message posted on social media, Owaisi appealed to Muslims across the country to wear black bands during prayers to express their condemnation of the attack. “As you all know, Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists have taken the lives of 26 tourists in Pahalgam. In condemnation of this act of terror, please wear a black band on your arm when you go for prayers tomorrow,” he said.
Owaisi also raised concerns about the lack of security in the region, noting that there were no police personnel or CRPF camps in Pahalgam at the time of the attack. He questioned the central government’s handling of security in the area and demanded accountability. “How did they cross the border? Who is responsible for this?” he asked.
In addition to Owaisi’s protest, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and other political leaders observed a two-minute silence in honor of the Pahalgam attack victims.
The Congress party has planned nationwide candle marches on April 25 to protest against terrorism and honor the deceased.
