Overspeeding lorry crashes into parked auto, killing student & injuring driver in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: In a tragic accident early this morning of August 17, a school student died on the spot, and an auto driver sustained serious injuries when their parked auto was struck by a tipper lorry at the Habsiguda Signal in Tarnaka, Hyderabad.
The deceased student has been identified as Ranga Sathvika, a 16-year-old 10th grader at Gowtham Model School. She was a resident of Kimtte Colony, Tarnaka, and the daughter of Gopi.
According to reports, Sathvika and the auto driver were rushed to a private hospital in Nacharam following the accident. Unfortunately, Sathvika was pronounced dead at the scene, while the auto driver was admitted with severe injuries.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the auto was parked behind an RTC bus at a traffic signal. A tipper lorry, traveling at high speed, collided with the auto, propelling it into the stationary RTC bus. This collision resulted in the immediate death of Sathvika and caused serious injuries to the auto driver.
Witnesses at the scene rushed to assist, attempting to move the bus and rescue those trapped. Local reports suggest that the auto driver was using a cell phone at the time of the accident.
The police arrived at the scene following information from locals. A crane helped extricate the auto from under the bus.
Osmania Police confirmed that Sathvika was traveling in the auto from her residence to school when the accident occurred. The tipper lorry, bearing registration number TS 15 UA 4649, struck the auto multiple times, causing it to go under the rear side of the bus. Sathvika and the auto driver, identified as Yellaiah, were transported to Prasad Hospital in Nacharam by an ambulance. Sathvika was declared dead upon arrival, while Yellaiah sustained severe injuries.
Osmania Police have informed the management of Gowtham Model School and Sathivika’s parents about the incident. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
