OU extends summer vacation for colleges across Telangana till June 6

HYDERABAD: Osmania University (OU) has extended the summer vacation for all colleges under its jurisdiction across Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana until June 6, citing continuing heatwave conditions in the state.
According to an official order, the extension applies to government, private, aided, constituent and affiliated undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) colleges. The summer break was originally scheduled to end on May 31.
The university said the decision was taken in view of the prevailing heatwave, despite a slight decline in temperatures in some districts.
On May 31, the highest temperature in Telangana was recorded at 45.2°C in Khammam, while Hyderabad recorded a maximum temperature of 41.9°C at Charminar.
Other universities announce similar extension
Several other state universities have also extended the summer vacation.
Palamuru University and Telangana University have announced holidays for affiliated colleges until June 6. As June 7 falls on a Sunday, colleges under these universities will reopen on June 8.
Meanwhile, Kakatiya University and Satavahana University have extended the vacation until June 5, with colleges scheduled to resume classes on June 6.
The move is expected to provide relief to students and staff amid persistent high temperatures across Telangana.
