Osmania General Hospital doctors perform successful liver transplant on 3-year-old boy

Hyderabad: In a remarkable feat, doctors at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) successfully performed a liver transplant surgery on a 3-year-old boy on July 3, 2024.
The 3-year-old boy has been identified as Master Modugu Chohan Aditya, son of Gunashekar and Amala of Konda Vanamala (Village), Konijerla (Mandal), Khammam District. Chohan Aditya was suffering with congenital biliary atresia and liver failure.
The complex liver donor transplant procedure was conducted by Dr. Madhusudan and his team of surgical gastroenterology and liver transplantation specialists. Aditya’s mother, Amla, selflessly donated a portion of her liver to save her son.
Following the successful surgery, both Aditya and Amla recovered well and were discharged from the hospital on July 16th, 2024. This marks a significant achievement for OGH, which has now performed 30 liver transplants, including 8 on pediatric patients.
The Osmania General Hospital has a proven track record of treating various liver conditions, including congenital biliary atresia, NISCH syndrome, and Wilson disease.
Telangana’s Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Science and Technology Minister, Damodar Raja Narasimha, took to ‘X,’ previously known as Twitter and lauded the efforts of government hospitals across the state for providing high-quality healthcare services like liver transplants. These procedures make advanced medical care more accessible and affordable for all citizens.
