Patients Receiving 3d Printed Artificial Limbs At Osmania General Hospital, Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Osmania General Hospital (OGH) opened a new facility on Monday to help patients who lost limbs due to accidents or diabetes. The centre is part of its existing food cancer centre.

Hospital Teams to Run the Facility

Hospital superintendent Dr Rakesh Sahay inaugurated the facility. Doctors from endocrinology, general surgery, and orthopaedics will run it together. They will give free, 3D-printed artificial limbs. Each limb uses lightweight material and fits the patient comfortably. These prosthetics usually cost about ₹25,000, but the Rogi Sahayata Trust provides them free.

First Patients Receive Limbs

Ten patients with lower-limb amputations received the new prosthetics after the launch. One patient, who lost both lower limbs, got two artificial limbs. Dr Sahay thanked the Rogi Sahayata Trust for helping provide these life-changing aids.
