From Reel to Real: Hyderabad Brings Cinema Back to the Open Air
HYDERABAD: The Tourism and Culture Department has resumed open-air film screenings at Lalitha Kala Thoranam. The Film Development Corporation is curating a lineup of award-winning films.
The initiative aims to keep community art spaces active. It also offers free cinema access to the public. Organisers are screening films on a large LED screen at the open-air venue. Audiences can enjoy movies under the night sky.
The five-day screening schedule began on April 14 with “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.” It continues with “Court” on April 15, “Thandel” on April 16, “Balagam” on April 17, and “Janatha Garage” on April 18.
Officials say the programme will attract families and film enthusiasts. It creates a shared cultural experience in the heart of the city.
The department believes such initiatives revitalise public venues. They also promote cinema as a community activity. The open-air theatre format is likely to draw diverse audiences, including families and young viewers.
The screenings are open to all, and entry is free.
