KARIMNAGAR: A 34-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in Karimnagar district after falling into debt linked to online betting, police said.

The deceased was identified as Thota Aditya, a resident of Kothapalli village. According to police, he was found hanging at his residence around 9.30 am on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Aditya was addicted to online betting and had incurred debts, leading to financial stress and personal difficulties. Police said he was unable to cope with the mounting pressure arising from these issues.

Following the incident, police registered a case and shifted the body to the district headquarters government hospital for postmortem examination.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death.
