Telangana Government Extends N.v.s. Reddy’s Term As Hyderabad Metro Md For One More Year

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has extended the tenure of N.V.S. Reddy as Managing Director of both Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) for another year, effective April 1, 2025.

In an official order, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department stated, “In consideration of the ongoing Phase-2 Metro Rail project and the planning stage of Metro Phase-2 (B), the government has decided to retain N.V.S. Reddy’s services as Managing Director of both HMRL and HAML.” The order noted that N.V.S. Reddy’s continued involvement is essential for the successful implementation of these major projects.

N.V.S. Reddy, who retired on June 30, 2016, was reappointed as MD of HMRL on July 1, 2017, with his term initially set to end on June 30, 2025. However, he had been among the 177 retired officers and staff members affected by a recent government directive to terminate the services of reappointed retired personnel. Despite this, the government has now decided to retain him for an additional year.

The government had previously issued a memo to terminate the services of retired employees across various departments, including the Secretariat, Heads of Departments (HODs), and government agencies. This included senior officials such as B.L.N. Reddy, Chief Engineer of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), and M. Satyanarayana, Executive Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), among others.

Under the directive, all retired personnel working in state-level offices, corporations, and boards were to be removed from service by March 31, 2025, unless their continued employment was justified and approved by the competent authority.
