No pedestrian crossing at T-Hub Junction sparks safety concerns in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Pedestrians are facing difficulties crossing the road at the junction of T-Hub and T-Works in Hyderabad due to the lack of proper pedestrian crossings. The issue was highlighted by Santhana Selvan, Bicycle Mayor of Hyderabad, in a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), where he pointed out the absence of infrastructure for pedestrian mobility at the location.
Selvan noted that while office spaces and commercial developments are rapidly expanding in the city, pedestrian infrastructure remains neglected. He said, “This location, including the junction of T-Hub and T-Works, is designed only for cars and motorists, with no consideration for active mobility. Pedestrians do have a crossing, but it is impractical to use. Is this a priority?”
🌺‼️Is it okay to build offices and not #Commuter #Pedestrians mobility!?
This location with junction of @THubHyd @TWorksHyd considers only #Cars and #Motorists to move and zero consideration for #ActiveMobility. Crossing present, but cannot cross! ❌
Will it be taken up on… pic.twitter.com/6cHnMElek2

Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Selvan explained that as more office spaces are developed and the number of commuters increases, pedestrian safety continues to be overlooked. “The road design prioritizes cars, two-wheelers, and other motorists, but there is no proper pedestrian crossing,” he said. “Pedestrians often have to climb over borders to cross, which is unsafe and inconvenient.”
Selvan highlighted the need for pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, arguing that roads should cater to all users, not just motorists. “Pedestrians are the majority, yet they are ignored. Many commuters walk from metro stations or bus stops to reach their destinations, making pedestrian mobility essential for last-mile connectivity,” he added.
He called for a redesign of the junction to improve pedestrian safety and urged the Telangana government and GHMC authorities to prioritize pedestrian infrastructure. “A developed city is one where people can walk, cycle, and use public transportation safely,” Selvan said. “Pedestrians should be recognized, respected, and prioritized.”
In response to the lack of infrastructure, Goutham commented, “There is no respect for cyclists’ lives on the roads. I demand separate lanes for two-wheelers.”
Team Road Squad (@Team_Road_Squad) expressed frustration, saying, “After studying so hard for jobs and struggling in life, this is how we cross the road. Zero respect.”
Hi Hyderabad (@HiHyderabad) also raised concerns, stating, “There should be a pedestrian gap at this junction.”
