Platform Drivers in Hyderabad Stand Firm on “No AC Campaign”

No AC Campaign

HYDERABAD:Shaik Salauddin stated that “No AC Campaign” will not step back on April 8. Salauddin is the Founder-President of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU). He is also the National General Secretary for the Indian Federation of App-based Transport Workers (IFAT).

Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU), affiliated with IFAT launched its No AC Campaign to draw attention to declining per-kilometer fares. Drivers, who are working with Uber, Ola, and Rapido have expressed their regret to offer high-quality, AC rides to their customers. They complained that the cost of running cabs with AC is 16-18 rupees per kilometer. But after platform charges, we are just getting 10-12 rupees per kilometer.

Ever since this campaign launched, platform companies have threatened drivers to permanently block their IDs on the app. Many drivers depend on airport rides and inter-city rides. But, platforms are threatening them in this regard saying, they’ll not assign them with these rides.

“It is not our intention to inconvenience our customers or ourselves as drivers. We just want to reach out to the platforms and the State Governments who have been ignoring our demands for uniform fares. We thank all our customers for supporting us in this regard amid rising fuel prices and inflation.” Drivers stated.

They also warned that, “If our demands are not considered, IFAT will be launching this “No AC Campaign” in seven other cities. Which are Delhi, Haryana, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra.”
