NMC offers 4,871 internship seats in Telangana
HYDERABAD: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced internship opportunities for students who studied medicine abroad and wish to practise in India.
For the 2026–27 academic year, the commission has allocated 43,250 compulsory rotating medical internship (CRMI) seats nationwide for foreign medical graduates (FMGs). Of these, 4,871 seats are in Telangana.

The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the NMC issued a circular to state medical councils on Tuesday directing them to allocate internship seats for FMGs.
State medical councils must coordinate with the Directorate of Medical Education to allot the seats as per NMC guidelines.
The commission directed that 7.5 per cent of the sanctioned internship seats in existing medical colleges be reserved for foreign medical graduates.
In newly established medical colleges, 100 per cent of CRMI seats must be allotted to FMGs.
The circular also states that additional internship opportunities created due to the increase in MBBS seats between 2022–23 and 2025–26 should be offered to foreign graduates.
Foreign medical graduates get seats in existing and new colleges
Internship seats will be available in both government and private medical colleges across Telangana.
Among government colleges, Gandhi Medical College will offer 13 seats, Osmania Medical College 19 seats, and Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, 19 seats.
Other government colleges include Mahabubnagar (13 seats), Siddipet (13), Suryapet (11), Nalgonda (11), and Nizamabad (9).
New government colleges in districts such as Siddipet, Jagtial, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem, Ramagundam, Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, and Nagarkurnool will together offer 150 seats.
Government colleges in Karimnagar, Khammam, Mancherial, Maheshwaram, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Nagarkurnool, Vikarabad, Narayanpet, Kamareddy, Asifabad, and Sircilla will provide 100 seats, while other government colleges will offer 50 seats each.
Private medical colleges will also provide internship opportunities. These include Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences (200 seats), Nova Institute of Medical Sciences (250), Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences (200), Father Colombo Institute of Medical Sciences (150), and MNR Medical College, Sangareddy (150).
Among older private colleges, Mamata Medical College, Khammam, will offer 61 seats, while Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences, Ghanpur; Mamata Medical College, Bachupally; and Maheshwara Medical College, Medak will offer 11 seats each.
Malla Reddy Medical College and Malla Reddy Women’s Medical College will provide 15 seats each.
Overall, 4,871 CRMI internship seats will be available in Telangana for foreign medical graduates.
