Firefighters douse flames at furniture shops near KGR Convention in Nizampet

HYDERABAD: Several furniture shops were gutted in a fire near KGR Convention at Pragathi Nagar Kaman in Nizampet circle on Tuesday evening.

The shops were allegedly constructed without mandatory permissions. The premises are linked to Damodar Rao, uncle of MLC Naveen Rao.

According to local sources, the units had recently been fitted with large quantities of wooden furniture and other interior material. Fire spread rapidly across the row of shops, triggering panic in the surrounding area.

Fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after several hours. No casualties were reported at the time of filing this report.

Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire. The extent of property loss is being assessed. Authorities are expected to examine whether the construction had valid municipal approvals and fire safety clearances.
