Nizamabad police seize ₹3.2 crore assets in drug case

NIZAMABAD: Police have seized assets worth around ₹3.2 crore allegedly acquired through the sale of narcotic substances in Nizamabad and neighbouring districts.
Commissioner of Police Sai Chaitanya said on Thursday that police seized the properties belonging to people accused of selling drugs. The action followed an investigation into the assets allegedly acquired through drug sales.
Properties traced to relatives’ names
According to the police, Nizamabad residents Gandham Srinivas Goud and Botla Kunta Katamaiah Goud allegedly procured alprazolam from Rajasthan and sold it in Nizamabad and Nirmal districts. Police arrested the two in 2025 and sent them to jail. Their alleged supplier from Rajasthan, Ratan Singh, is absconding.
The commissioner directed Assistant Commissioner of Police Prakash Yadav and Rural ACP Srinivas to initiate action to seize properties allegedly acquired by Srinivas Goud and Katamaiah Goud through drug sales.
Police analysed cellphone data and other technology-based evidence relating to 10 people linked to the accused and visited Nizamabad, Nirmal and Mahabubnagar districts. They also approached tahsildars and sub-registrars to trace property records.
The investigation found that some properties had allegedly been acquired in the names of the accused’s mother and wife. Police subsequently seized the identified assets.
Seized assets include land and vehicles
The seized properties include 4.20 acres of agricultural land, 667 square yards of house plot, four-wheelers, a two-wheeler and ₹5 lakh kept in a bank account.
According to government valuation, the total value of the seized assets is estimated at around ₹3.2 crore.
