NIZAMABAD: A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped by an unidentified woman at the Government General Hospital (GGH) here on Saturday after she lured him with the promise of chocolate.

The boy, Devanshi, is the son of Kosadi Naresh and Sandhya of Nagapur village in Balkonda mandal. The couple has two children, Nivash, 5, and Devanshi, 2½.

Sandhya was admitted to the maternity and child centre at GGH on Wednesday for her third delivery. She gave birth to a girl.

On Saturday, Naresh visited the hospital with his two sons. After lunch, when the family went to a tap to wash their hands, an unidentified woman, aged around 40, approached them and started talking to the children.

The woman reportedly offered them chocolates. The two children followed her to the hospital veranda, from where she took Devanshi away in an auto-rickshaw.

Nivash ran back and informed his father and grandmother about the incident. Naresh searched the hospital and bus stand areas but could not find the boy.

He later lodged a complaint with police. Four police teams are searching for Devanshi based on CCTV footage.
