Nirmal fridge blast leaves two dead

NIRMAL: Two persons died after a refrigerator exploded in Mahalakshmi Wada in Nirmal district. Vijay and another woman, who were undergoing treatment, died on Sunday.
According to local reports, the explosion occurred inside a house, triggering a sudden fire. Flames spread rapidly, leaving occupants with little time to respond. Neighbours rushed to help and alerted authorities, following which the injured were shifted to hospital.
A preliminary inquiry indicates that a short circuit caused the blast. Police said further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
Officials said rising temperatures during summer increase pressure on electrical appliances, especially refrigerators that run continuously. Faulty wiring, poor maintenance and lack of ventilation at the rear of appliances can raise the risk of such incidents.

Experts advised that refrigerators should be placed with sufficient space behind them for airflow. They also recommended regular inspection of wiring, avoiding overloading of power sockets, and switching off appliances in case of unusual noise or overheating.
