NIMS Patient Attender Held for Assaulting Woman Undergoing Treatment

Man Life Sentence in sexually assaulting a minor

HYDERABAD: Panjagutta police have booked a patient attender for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman undergoing treatment at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) after she was injured in a road accident. Police later detained the accused, identified as Nageshwar Rao.

According to police, the woman’s family admitted her to the hospital after the accident. Around 3 am on Tuesday, her father briefly stepped out of the ward. Police alleged that Nageshwar Rao then lifted the victim’s blanket and tried to touch her private parts.

The woman went into shock and could not raise an alarm. Hospital staff noticed a sudden drop in her pulse rate and heartbeat, which raised concern.

Victim revealed assault after counselling

After her mother counselled her, the woman disclosed the alleged assault. Her father immediately approached Panjagutta police and filed a complaint.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Nageshwar Rao on charges of sexual assault and outraging the modesty of a woman. Police detained the accused, and the investigation is continuing.
