Why Niloufer Hospital doctors are protesting after assault on PG resident
HYDERABAD: Doctors’ association at Niloufer Hospital has condemned the alleged assault on a second-year postgraduate (PG) resident doctor while he was on duty in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU).
According to the association, a child who had shown signs of recovery was shifted from the RICU to an isolation ward. However, attendants later expressed concern that the baby was crying excessively.
Responding to the concerns, the resident doctor shifted the child back to the RICU for closer monitoring and advised the attendants to follow ICU protocols, the association said.
The association stated that the doctor acted solely in the child’s best interest and that the decision was taken as part of his clinical responsibilities.
Condemning the alleged assault, the doctors’ body termed any attack on healthcare workers unacceptable and called for stronger measures to ensure the safety and security of medical staff in hospitals.
The association urged authorities to take steps to prevent such incidents and create a safe working environment for healthcare professionals.
