Niloufer Hospital hosts session on AI-assisted paediatric healthcare

HYDERABAD: Niloufer Hospital hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled “The AI-Augmented Clinician: Transforming Care for the Acutely Sick Child”, featuring Matthew Strehlow, Professor of Emergency Medicine and Executive Vice Chair at Stanford University. The programme examined the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in paediatric healthcare and its potential to improve patient care.
Faculty members from various departments, postgraduate students and senior doctors attended the session. Among those present was Niloufer Hospital Superintendent Dr Vijay Kumar. The programme was organised to help healthcare professionals understand the use of AI in paediatric care and its impact on clinical practice.
Participants discuss opportunities and challenges of AI
During his presentation, facilitated by GVK EMRI, Dr Strehlow outlined the emerging role of AI in paediatric healthcare. He discussed the technology’s advantages, limitations and challenges in real-world medical settings.
He explained how AI can assist clinicians in making informed decisions, improving patient outcomes and delivering more efficient care. He also stressed the need for responsible and appropriate use of AI in healthcare.
The CME programme included activity-based learning exercises that encouraged participant engagement and discussions on practical applications of AI in clinical settings.
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to engage directly with Dr Strehlow on the future of AI-assisted healthcare and its role in treating acutely ill children.
