Niloufer Hospital area needs clean-up, beautification: Redhills residents urge GHMC

HYDERABAD: The road and footpath near Niloufer Hospital have been dirty and neglected for years, according to people living in the area. Frustrated by the persistent unhygienic conditions outside one of Hyderabad’s busiest women and children’s hospitals, the Redhills community has formally appealed to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for a comprehensive clean-up and beautification drive.
Niloufer Hospital is one of the first hospitals for women and children in Hyderabad, Telangana. Every day, thousands of patients come for treatment. In fact, it is also Asia’s largest government hospital for women and children, with more than 1,500 beds. As a result, the hospital sees more than 100 to 150 new patients admitted each day.
A resident, Mustafa, wrote a letter to the GHMC Zonal Commissioner, asking them to review the proposal and send it, along with the idea picture, to the GHMC Commissioner. He said that with GHMC’s help, the ongoing problem of trash dumping and neglect could be solved for good and become a positive example for the community.

Speaking’s proposal asks the GHMC Commissioner to make lasting changes to how the area looks and functions, rather than just quick fixes. He says big changes are needed to help people act differently and encourage everyone to keep the area clean.
Specifically, the plan includes colorful wall art with messages about keeping the city clean and supporting the “Swachh Hyderabad” vision. People also want a small green area along the wall to stop trash dumping and make the street look better. In addition, the plan calls for fixing the sidewalk with new tiles so people can walk safely.
A picture included with the proposal shows how the area could turn from a dumping ground into a clean, model street for the neighborhood.

In his letter, Mustafa asked the GHMC Zonal Commissioner to look at the proposal and send it, with the idea picture, to the GHMC Commissioner. He said that with GHMC’s help, the ongoing problem of trash dumping and neglect could be solved for good. Local residents, who have dealt with the dirty conditions for a long time, hope the city will act and improve the area as suggested.
