HYDERABAD: A promotional event for the upcoming Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab took a frightening turn on Thursday when actress Nidhi Agerwal was mobbed by an overzealous crowd. The incident raised serious questions about celebrity safety and event management.

The incident occurred during a launch event for the film’s new song. The festivities were meant to celebrate the film’s music, but focus quickly shifted when a surging crowd of fans overwhelmed security and encircled Agerwal. Disturbing videos from the scene show the actress visibly distressed and angry as she was jostled by the crowd.

“Scary visuals of Nidhi Agerwal being mobbed,” read one social media post, echoing widespread online concern”. Many users expressed outrage, with one commenting, “There are many men who take advantage of the crowd and touch inappropriately. Agerwal herself, prior to the mobbing, had addressed the crowd, saying, “Good evening to all the fans of India’s biggest star, Prabhas. Thank you for the immense love.”
