Hyderabad: Hyderabad already has a fully functional pet crematorium at Fathullaguda Animal Sanctuary, and two more are opening soon. These two new pet crematoriums are getting ready at Mahadevpur in the Kukatpally zone and Nallagandla in the Serilingampally zone.
The pet cemetery at Mahadevpur is spread over 500 sq. yds. of land. The facility is equipped with zero-emission technology and is fully compliant with Pollution Control Board norms. Pet owners can give a dignified farewell to their dead animals at this facility by paying Rs. 2,500 per animal. Low-income families will be charged Rs. 500 for the services, while no charges will be applicable to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Raaga Foundation has spent Rs. 2 crore to develop the Nallagandla crematorium, which is built on 500 sq.yds. The crematorium also provides a vehicle service, a freezer for deceased animals, and a mortuary. The staff will give the pet owner the ashes after the cremation.
GHMC set up the first pet crematorium at Fathullaguda Animal Sanctuary in December 2022. The opening of the first crematorium was made possible by the collaboration of People for Animals (PFA) NGO. The crematorium came to be known as ‘Ananta Yatra’.
