Netflix to open second India office in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Streaming platform Netflix has chosen Hyderabad for its second office in India after Mumbai, sparking debate on social media about why the city edged out Bengaluru.
According to reports, the company has leased a 41,000 sq. ft. office at CapitaLand ITPH Block A in HITEC City, its first major base in Hyderabad. The complex also houses Warner Bros. Discovery, reinforcing the area’s emergence as an entertainment and technology hub.
Industry sources said the new facility will handle regional content development, project management, technical workflows, and vendor coordination for production and post-production. Hyderabad’s proximity to Tollywood, one of India’s most active film industries, offers a significant advantage for content creation and collaboration, while boosting opportunities for local talent.
Analysts believe the move could strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a global media and content production centre.
Corporate shift trends
The announcement has also revived discussion about Bengaluru’s infrastructure woes. In September 2025, Rajesh Yabaji, CEO of digital trucking firm BlackBuck, criticised poor road conditions around Bellandur Outer Ring Road in a post on X, hinting at relocation plans. His remarks came amid mounting complaints over potholes, waterlogging, and traffic congestion, prompting Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh to invite companies to move operations to Andhra Pradesh.
