Man kills labourer, hides body under kitchen floor; arrested after four months

HYDERABAD: Neredmet police have solved a murder case in which a man killed a labourer and concealed the body beneath the kitchen floor of his rented house in December 2025. The accused was arrested on May 1, 2026.
Police identified the accused as Gavvala Mallesh, 47, a plumber from J.K. Colony, Neredmet, originally from Sirsanagandla village in Siddipet district. The deceased was Kanchi Venkat Ramulu, 47, a labourer residing in Moula Ali and native of Lalkota village in Mahabubnagar district.
Body concealed under kitchen platform after fatal assault
According to police, the accused and the deceased became acquainted at labour addas and often consumed alcohol together. On December 15, 2025, they met at HB Colony but failed to secure work.
They later consumed alcohol near a wine shop and at the accused’s house. During the drinking session, an argument broke out. Police said the deceased allegedly made derogatory remarks about the accused’s personal life.
In a fit of rage, the accused attacked the victim with a wooden stick, causing fatal head injuries. The victim died on the spot.
The accused then tied the victim’s hands, legs and neck with a rope. He concealed the body beneath the kitchen platform by constructing a brick cover.
Case surfaces after foul smell alerts house owner
Police said the accused fled the house after the incident. As the deceased had no close contact with family members, no missing complaint was filed.
The crime came to light on April 17, 2026. The house owner, unable to contact the accused for months, broke open the house after noticing a foul smell.
Upon removing the kitchen platform stone, a decomposed body with skeletal remains was found. A case was registered under Sections 103(1) and 238(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Neredmet police station.
Accused traced and arrested at city bus stand
Police used technical analysis and gathered credible information to identify the accused. He was traced and arrested at Jubilee Bus Stand on May 1, 2026.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. Sridhar and Assistant Commissioner of Police V. Yadagiri Reddy. Inspector P. Sandeep Kumar, along with officers and staff of Neredmet police station, participated in the investigation and arrest.
