80 Telangana tourists stranded in Srinagar after terror attack in Pahalgam

Hyderabad: Dozens of tourists from Telangana have been stuck in Srinagar since the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday. The anxious Telugu tourists have sent an SOS to the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government to help them leave Kashmir valley.

The vacationers have been making requests for evacuation through social media posts. They are also appealing to the state government to help them return home safely.

“We are 80 people who came from Telangana for a tour. The attack happened right after we arrived here yesterday. We are not being allowed to go anywhere. Please help us get back to our state,” a stranded Telangana tourist said in a video message.

Among the tourists stranded in Srinagar are residents from Hyderabad, Medak, Warangal, Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts, who had gone to Srinagar as a group and their itinerary included several tourist destinations in Jammu region as well as Kashmir valley. They landed in Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon and hours later the terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam.

Consequently, a curfew-like situation emerged in the entire valley and the tourists were not allowed to step out of their hotel. They were planning to visit the picturesque Pahalgam on Wednesday, however, following the attack, they remained stranded in Srinagar.

Responding to the appeal of stranded tourists, BRS working president KT Rama Rao urged the State and Central governments to ensure the safe return of Telangana tourists.

“About 80 tourists from Telangana are stranded in Srinagar since yesterday. I request the State and Central Governments to swiftly make arrangements for their safe return. Telangana CMO, please ensure these tourists receive necessary care and support during this challenging time. Let’s bring them home safely,” KTR tweeted.
