Nandyal bus accident kills three

NANDYAL:Â Three people were killed and more than 10 injured after a private bus caught fire following a collision with a container lorry in Nandyal district early Wednesday.
Bus hits lorry after losing control
Police said the ARBCVR private travels bus was travelling from Nellore to Hyderabad with 36 passengers. The accident occurred after 2 am near Sirivella Metta in Sirivella mandal when a tyre burst caused the driver to lose control. The bus crossed the divider and rammed an oncoming container lorry.
Passengers escape as bus burns
The bus driver, along with the lorry driver and cleaner, died on the spot. Flames quickly engulfed the bus after the crash. A DCM driver who was passing by stopped his vehicle and smashed the bus windows, helping passengers escape. Several passengers suffered minor injuries after jumping out through the windows.
The lorry was also gutted in the fire. The bodies of the bus driver, lorry driver and cleaner were charred beyond recognition. Passengers’ luggage was completely destroyed.
Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and began rescue operations. The injured were shifted to Nandyal Government General Hospital.
