Nampally Metro fully automated multi-level parking complex in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Parking woes in the city centre are set to ease with the opening of the Nampally Metro multi-level parking complex on Saturday.

The fully automated, high-tech facility will be inaugurated at 5 pm by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, officials said. The project is positioned as India’s first fully automated parking complex and is expected to offer motorists an international-standard parking experience.

Among those attending the inauguration are Mohammad Azharuddin, Asaduddin Owaisi, Anil Kumar Yadav and Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi. T Raja Singh will preside over the event.

Fully automated, no driver intervention

Built under a public-private partnership by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, the complex uses German technology supplied by Palais Technology. It is India’s first automated puzzle parking system, requiring no human intervention.

Drivers only need to park the vehicle at a terminal and swipe a card. Sensors assess the vehicle’s size and the system automatically lifts and parks it on an available floor. On return, swiping the card brings the car back to the terminal.

Officials said the complex was built at a cost of ₹102 crore on about 2,000 square yards by Nocham Group, following directions from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to develop the facility to global standards. The system includes a 360-degree turntable, allowing seamless alignment regardless of how the vehicle is placed.

Parking plus entertainment

The 15-storey structure has 10 floors dedicated to parking and can accommodate 250 cars and 200 two wheelers at a time. The complex also houses two cinema theatres, commercial shopping space and a dedicated city-view gallery on the 11th floor.
