Hyderabad Blues’ Naman Choudhary Smashes Six Sixes in an Over
HYDERABAD: Naman Choudhary of Hyderabad Blues produced a stunning display of power-hitting, smashing six sixes in an over during the opening round of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) T20 League at various grounds on Tuesday.
The left-handed batter achieved the feat in a ‘B’ Division match against Visaka at the AN Cricket Ground-1. Choudhary targeted right-arm pacer K V Shashank in the 19th over, hitting six sixes around a wide delivery as the over read 6, 6, 6, 6, wide, 6, 6.
Shashank finished with figures of 4-0-62-1 as Hyderabad Blues posted a massive 253/3 in 20 overs.
Record-hitting knock powers Hyderabad Blues
Batting at No. 4, Choudhary remained unbeaten on 166 off just 58 balls at a strike rate of 286.21. His innings included 13 fours and 17 sixes.
Sai Abhinav then claimed 5/35 as Visaka were bowled out for 160 in 18.5 overs, helping Hyderabad Blues register a 93-run victory.
Choudhary had earlier captained Hyderabad in the BCCI Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 tournament in 2024.
Centurions dominate opening round fixtures
In the ‘A’ Division, Evergreen’s Chandan Sahani struck 110 off 46 balls with six fours and 11 sixes in his side’s win over Combined District-1.
Central Excise batter Mote Jashwanth remained unbeaten on 107 off 50 balls, including eight fours and nine sixes, in a successful chase against Combined District-2.
Deccan Wanderers’ Rishiket Sisodia blasted 101 off 40 balls with 11 sixes to guide his side to victory against Balaaji.
In the ‘B’ Division, Telangana opener Aatish Anthathi hammered an unbeaten 111 off 47 balls, including 10 fours and nine sixes, in a 10-wicket win over Postal.
West Marredpally Cricket Club off-spinner Karthik Kuchipudi also impressed with figures of 5/16 against Venus Cybertech.
Other notable performances came from Postal’s Ahmed Shakeer (98 not out), Charminar’s Satwik Reddy (92), Sportive’s Karan Kumar Pattanayak (89), Evergreen’s Aaron George Varghese (86) and Mahadev’s Khush Agarwal, who scored 87 off 50 balls with eight fours and seven sixes.
