Two students drown in Nalgonda well while trying to catch fish

HYDERABAD: Two school students drowned in an agricultural open well at Khaji Ramaram village in Nalgonda district after they slipped while trying to catch fish, police said on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Bolgiri Lucky, 10, a Class 6 student, and Bongarala Bhargav, 14, a Class 10 student. Both were residents of Khaji Ramaram in Nalgonda mandal and studied at a local school.

CCTV footage helped police trace the missing boys

Police said the boys left home after school on Saturday evening but did not return. Their parents lodged a missing complaint with the Nalgonda Rural police station.

During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the village and found the boys carrying fishing tackle. With the help of local residents, they searched an agricultural open well on the outskirts of the village and recovered the bodies.

Bodies sent for postmortem at Government General Hospital

According to the police, the boys did not know how to swim. Their bodies were shifted to the Government General Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

Police are investigating the incident.
